San Gabriel ValleyNet Project

The purpose of the ValleyNet project was to implement and advance a 21st century collaborative communication infrastructure and hub for California's San Gabriel Valley. In short, the intent was to use information and communication services to create a competitive advantage for the San Gabriel Valley in its efforts to continually improve its business environment.

Additionally, the network provides added value to the Valley's cities, residents, educational institutions and facilitate access to government, technical, scientific, business and community information. Ultimately, through these efforts, there will be an increase in the value and usage of a comprehensive civic network among various constituencies: business, government, academia and citizens thereby putting the San Gabriel Valley on the map as a place to live, work, and learn.

The La Jolla Institute is produced the echnical recommendations that helped shape the overall application design of the system architecture for ValleyNet's interactive, on-line system using existing off-the-shelf software.
